Since 2021, Stephen has been an integral employee of the Maintenance Department. He handles the maintenance and repairs of the irrigation systems. Stephen is also responsible for programming the field painting robot and helps with managing the summer staff. A general jack of all trades, he will help with various tasks that may arise out of the blue and is extremely hard working. Stephen has been in the National Guard over 9 years and is engaged to be married. He enjoys spending time on his Ham Radio, playing on his PC and guitar.

Luis has been a valuable member of our maintenance team since the summer of 2021. He enjoys the game of soccer and played for Memphis FC as well as playing soccer and football at Bethel University. He loves animals and has 3 adorable dogs.

John Talley

President & Founder

John provided the inspiration and developed the business plan for the creation of the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, TN. As President and Founder of Shelby County Soccer Complex Inc, a nonprofit 501c3 corporation, he organized the private/public partnership that raised construction funds in the amount of 2.5 million dollars through corporate contributions, foundations and grants. John worked with the local clubs, associations and Tennessee Soccer to coordinate participation at the complex.

John was the General Manager of Mike Rose Soccer Complex from its opening in 1998 until his passing from brain cancer on March 11, 2002. The Talley family created the John Talley Pediatric Neuroiogical Research Fund to honor his memory benefitting the children of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.

Kim Talley

General Manager

Kim brings the experience of business ownership to the Mike Rose Soccer Complex (MRSC). Her business experience included international and domestic sales. Kim and John, as a team, worked to develop soccer and a soccer complex in the Mid-South area. Kim has worked at MRSC since 1999.

Watching her children grow up playing at the complex to now watching her grandchildren play, has brought her so much joy. Over the years, she has spent time volunteering with Arise to Read, Quilts for Kids, rocking babies and Cancer Kickers. Also, Kim continues to fundraise for the John Talley Pediatric Neurological Research Fund benefiting Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.

Simon Lacon

Assistant General Manager

Simon has a Master of Science degree in Human Performance/Exercise Physiology and a Master of Arts degree in Sports Management & Administration. A native of England, his pursuit of this sport has led him from organizing tournaments in London, UK to directing and marketing camps for a US based soccer company. He has been a dedicated employee at Mike Rose Soccer Complex since 1998. His responsibilities include coordinating all schedules, events, and contractual agreements.

Carey Talley

Marketing Director

Carey grew up playing soccer for Memphis Futbol Club and for Houston High School. He received an athletic scholarship to The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill from 1994-1997. Carey also played for U-17, U20, and U-23 US National Teams.

He was drafted in 1998 in the 2nd round, 14th overall, of Major League Soccer by DC United. He enjoyed 13 years of professional soccer with teams such as DC United, Kansas City Wizards, FC Dallas, Real Salt Lake, Chivas USA, and The New York Red Bulls. He retired in 2010, #8 on the all-time games played list (315) and returned to Memphis to work at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

Carey is an important part of the MRSC team handling marketing, tournaments, camps/clinics and event set up.

Hotel Director

Jessica has a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management and Communications from the University of Michigan. She played on the Region II Olympic Development Team and was the goalkeeper for University of Michigan all fours years of her undergraduate program. Her interest and experience with the game has led her to pursue a career within Soccer Facility Administration.

She has been the Hotel Director since 1999 and assists teams in finding accommodations for the tournaments. Jessica currently plays soccer with her husband in the local adult leagues and hosts the annual Rylee’s Run 5K and RIBS Adult 7v7 Soccer Tournament benefitting the Neuroscience Institute and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.

Lindsey Borm

Hotel Coordinator

Lindsey grew up in Memphis, TN playing club and high school soccer, earning an athletic scholarship to Appalachian State University in 2003. She was an integral part of the Mountaineer soccer program from the day she walked onto campus. She graduated in 2008 with a degree in Health Promotions.

Lindsey joined MRSC as a part of the Hotel Division in 2009. She is dedicated to working on projects associated with LeBonheur Children's Hospital. She plays a huge part in raising funds for the John C. Talley Pediatric Neurological Research Fund, in her father's memory.

Lindsey and her husband, Brett, enjoy spending time together and making memories with their two sons.

Kirsten Talley

Hotel Coordinator

Kirsten holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing with a minor in Management from Clemson University. Thanks to soccer, she has lived all across the country, but she and her family made Memphis their home in 2011.

After a career in various fields across her moves, she began working with the MRSC Hotel Division in 2017. With her family's own team travels and competitive soccer experiences, she brings a real customer-oriented perspective to our program.

Kirsten loves travel and exploring new places, cooking, her 2 wild German Shepherds, time with her family, and being a soccer mom.

Brian Kusler

Field & Grounds Superintendent

Brian has over 30+ years of work experience in maintenance and turf grass management. He began his career in 1989 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Sports Arena, which held a vast number of sporting events, concerts and a variety of shows.

After moving to Memphis in 1991, Brian held the position as the Second Assistant Superintendent at TPC Southwind, which hosts the annual Fed Ex / St Jude Classic on the PGA Tour. He is currently a member of the Sports Turf Managers Association and the TN Turfgrass Association. Brian is a loving and proud father of three children. In his spare time, he is an avid Ham Radio operator and loves classic rock music.
